4 Reasons Atlantis Might Have Actually Existed

by | Nov 15, 2017 | History of the Universe, Miscellaneous

Many of us have heard of the myth of Atlantis or, at the very least, we’ve seen the 2001 animated Disney film starring Michael J. Fox. Atlantis has become this thing of cultural awareness, something like Nessie or Big Foot. But, because there’s no historical record, it seems impossible that there was a vastly advanced society in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Right?

From a strictly scientific perspective, I would have to agree: concrete evidence is lacking. The first well-known reference to Atlantis was by Plato in 360 B.C., more than nine millennia after the island was said to have sunk, and underwater dives have been promising, but inconclusive.

So, how can we know that Atlantis ever really existed?

1. The story of Atlantis was first documented in 3,000 BCE, not in Plato’s well-known parable.

Though Plato made Atlantis famous in our modern history with his parable Timaeus and Critas in 360 BCE, accounts of Atlantis were found in ancient Sumerian records nearly 3,000 years earlier. So, unlike some people may have assumed, Plato did not invent the concept or existence of Atlantis. Instead, he simply popularized it, much like William Shakespeare dramatized British and Scottish history through his plays, including Macbeth.

Likewise, Plato’s Timaeus and Critas is not a historical representation of Atlantis. Instead, it is a piece of creative writing, a parable, using Atlantis as a metaphor for Athens. So while we can look for the seed of histroical truth in Plato’s parable, we must acknowledge that it is by no means a fully accurate account of the civilization.

Even though the Sumerian records discussing Atlantis were discovered more recently, there are some uncanny echoes between it and Plato’s work. In both documents, Atlantis is discussed as being an island nation with extensive, advanced forms of technology.

2. The legend of Atlantis is cross-cultural.

Just because a legend is cross-cultural, doesn’t mean it’s true; from a strictly scientific view, such a hypothesis would be tossed out. However, some stories that we humans tell transcend race, culture, religion, origin, age, and gender, and these cross-cultural stories often have a grain of truth about the human experience or about human history embedded inside them. This is true for creation myths, and even what is included in the Bible. Just because it is not pure 100% fact does not mean there is no historical basis; it is not black and white.

The myth of Atlantis is also one such story. The legend of Atlantis has not just shown up in the United States, nor did it die with Plato when he first wrote about Atlantis. It is a human fascination with the island civilization, not a cultural one. And if we still haven’t debunked the story of Atlantis after more than 2,000 years, especially with all our technological advances, that is something we need to acknowledge

3. Numerous people have claimed to have had past life memories from Atlantis.

For those of us who only believe what we can see and experience, past life memories are something at which we might scoff, especially if we’ve never had such an experience ourselves. However, many people have had past life memories of Atlantis, some of which are so detailed it’s challenging to think how we could explain them some other way.

For my part, I remember just a small fraction of a lifetime in Atlantis that I recalled a year and a half ago in response to trauma. In April 2016, there was a day where the weather oscillated between snow and sunshine. It was incredibly bizarre, and I made a comment about it to my friend, an intuitive and Akashic Record reader. She paused and asked me what came up for me when she said ‘extinction.’ I suddenly had a deep emotional reaction of terror that I could not explain, and I started crying hysterically. When my friend said that had been an emotional echo of Atlantis, I saw myself in a blue toga, with long brown hair in a braid, sandals on my feet, standing at the edge of a rocky island. I saw the rock in front of me crack and split, and a huge splash of water came up. The memory was brief, vivid, and came without any hypnosis or meditation.

Still not convinced that past lives have some validity? While some psychologists have dismissed past life recollections as inauthentic imaginings, there are some academics such as Jim Tucker who have been studying cases of people who claim to have memories of past lives. Data is inconclusive, but Tucker’s theories consciousness and reincarnation are definitely plausible from a logical standpoint.

4. Our crystal technology has advanced rapidly since 1960.

For those who are familiar with myths about Atlantis (or, again, the Disney film), the civilization was known for having access to advanced crystal technology. Atlanteans were able to store memories and information in crystals, just as store data on our computer hard drives or phones. They used crystals to purify water, to help people heal, and as a light source. Basically, crystals were a big part of their culture and lifestyle.

We are seeing some of this technology emerge again, but nowhere is it more evident than in our electronics. After all, the biggest business boom in the last 30 years has been in Silicon Valley, which originally earned its nickname because of the silicon-based computer chips that were being developed there. Over the past 50 years, the silicon computer chips and microprocessors that we have been using have become increasingly complex and able to accomplish more. After all, most of us can probably still remember the significant difference between a computer made in 2000 and one made in 2015 as far as its capabilities and processing power went.

How does this relate to crystals, you might ask? Well, silicon is the primary element of quartz, an important stone in crystal healing. And, according to oral history, the crystals that Atlanteans used to store most of their information were clear quartz crystals.

While our current technology is a far cry from being able to embed thoughts, memories, and emotions into a piece of clear quartz, it continues to advance every day. In addition, because our technology has advanced so quickly, it seems unlikely that it had never existed elsewhere before. Whether it’s through Divine inspiration, assistance from extraterrestrials, or tapping into past life memories and masteries, I propose that part of the reason that computer technology and the Internet of Things has developed so rapidly in such a short span of time is because a more advanced version of this technology already existed in Atlantis.
